About complete family tree research
Complete trees take considerably more research time because additional relatives and family branches discovered during the research may also be investigated and added where appropriate. For that reason, complete research is quoted individually depending on scope.

Don't know the exact location?
That's often part of the service, I can investigate using records, maps, old photographs and family information to try and identify the locationbefore arranging a visit.
Travel time and fuel are always clearly quoted in advance. Combining multiple locations on one trip usually saves on travel costs.
Possible Additional Record Costs
Certain external records may occasionally involve additional charges. Official birth, marriage or death certificates may sometimes be required to positively confirm that the correct individual has been identified and these are charged separately at cost.
Some Scottish genealogy records operate on a pay-per-view basis, and those costs are also charged separately at cost.
Certificates are charged separately at cost, only when needed.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT RESEARCH PRICES
Will I know the cost before research begins?
Yes. I'll agree the scope and cost with you before work starts. If further research or additional costs become necessary, I'll discuss them with you first.
Why are complete family trees quoted individually?
Larger family trees vary considerably depending on the number of family lines, generations, locations and records involved, so I'll quote these according to the scope of the project.
Are certificates and record fees included?
Most research uses records available within the agreed research cost. If an official certificate, Scottish record or other paid record is needed, I'll explain the cost and ask for your agreement first.
Can I set a maximum budget for research?
Yes. For hourly research, we can agree a number of research hours or a maximum budget before work begins.
