CASE STUDY
Finding a Place Lost to Time
A client wanted to discover what an old farm building looked like today. In the early 1980s their school, along with several other schools, had used the building for weekend stays and school trips. They still had the original photographs - but nobody could remember exactly where the building was.
The information available consisted of memories, the farm name, several nearby towns, and the knowledge that it was somewhere on the Yorkshire Moors.
Research was carried out using old maps, records and the original photographs. A likely location was identified and confirmed with the client. The location was then visited.
From the nearest road, reaching the property required a walk of approximately two miles through National Forestry land. The original building was still standing, and present-day photographs were taken from several angles.
