THE MAIN SERVICE
Discover your ancestors with a professionally researched family tree, carefully verified
against historical records and delivered as an organised digital archive that's yours to keep.
Based in Lincolnshire, I research family histories for clients across the UK and overseas. Whether you're starting
with just a few names or already have some family information, I'll build your tree generation by generation
using the records and evidence that survive.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
Professional family tree research built on evidence, not guesswork. Every project is carefully checked against the available records and delivered as an organised digital family-history archive.

Verified research
Every name and date is backed by a record and reasoned through - never copied from an unverified online tree.

A GEDCOM family tree file
A universal file you can import into most genealogy software and websites, so you keep building it yourself in future.

Organised ancestor folders
Each individual has their own folder, labelled with full name, date of birth and date of death - left blank if the person is still living.

Digital copies of every record
Every record discovered during your research is kept digitally and filed in the right place.
GETTING STARTED
You don't need to have already researched your family tree to get started. A parent's or grandparent's name, an approximate date, an old certificate, photograph or even a family story may be enough to begin.
I'll review what you already know before any research starts and let you know what's realistically possible. If you've already started your family tree, I can use your existing research as the starting point rather than beginning again unnecessarily.
THE RECORDS
Research draws on whichever records survive for your family. Here's what a project typically includes.
Birth records
Death records
Electoral registers
Newspaper articles & notices
Probate and wills (where relevant)
Marriage records
Census records
Parish records
Military records (where available)
Other useful historical records
Records are supplied as digital copies where available. Original certificates may occasionally be required to confirm the correct person - these are charged separately at cost, only with your agreement.

A digital archive you can....
Digital delivery is the standard. Your family tree and records arrive in an organised, portable format - not locked into a single website.

Keep
A permanent digital archive that's yours to keep.

Share
Pass it to relatives or between family members.

Print it yourself, or order a chart on request.

Build on
Import into genealogy software and keep growing it.
HOW IT WORKS
Every family is different, but the research follows the same careful process, starting with what you already
know and working backwards through the evidence.

Tell me what you know
Share the names, dates, places, certificates, photographs or family stories you already have. Even a small amount of confirmed information can provide a starting point.

I research each generation
I work backwards through historical records, comparing names, dates, locations, occupations and family relationships to identify the correct people.

I check the evidence
Records are cross-checked before relationships are added to your tree. Where something can't be confirmed, I'll explain the uncertainty rather than present a guess as fact.

You recieve your family archive
Your completed research is organised into individual ancestor folders, with copies of the records found, your family tree and a GEDCOM file to keep, share or build on.

FAMILY TREE QUESTIONS
A few of the things people ask before getting in touch - and the honest answers.
As much or as little as you have. A starting point might be a grandparent's name and approximate birth date, or a family story about where someone came from. I'll review what you share and let you know what research is possible before any work begins.
It depends on the records that survive for your family. Most English and Welsh families can be traced back to the early 1800s, and often into the 1700s where parish records survive. Scottish and Irish research can reach similar periods where records exist.
It varies with the scope of the project and what records survive. A single family line usually takes a few weeks, while larger projects take longer. I'll give you an estimated timescale with your quote
A GEDCOM is a universal file format for family trees. It lets you import your researched tree into most genealogy software and websites, so you can keep building it yourself in future.
Yes. The standard service is digital, but family tree charts can be professionally printed on request. The cost depends on chart size and complexity, and printed binders or copies of the research can also be quoted separately if you'd like.
